FDP optimization using regional type curves
Regional type curves workflow allows the input of different set of production type curves (P10/P50/P90) to different regions. This workflow evaluates multiple FDPs (pads and wells) created by Petrel Pad Placement and Well Design, and the rig schedule. It generates the production profile and economics for all the FDPs. The optimal one can be picked based on criteria such as NPV, recovery, etc.

Sweet spot identification with reservoir simulation
Reservoir characterization from seismic, logs, core, etc., from vertical and horizontal wells, generates reservoir quality (RQ) and completion quality (CQ) properties for shale reservoirs. RapidPlan consumes these RQ and CQ maps to simulate production at selected locations by running single-well production simulation. An Estimated-Ultimate-Recovery (EUR) map can be generated as a result.
-
FDP optimization using quality map
Quality map is the result of reservoir characterization and describes the heterogeneity of the reservoir. Quality maps may include a porosity_thickness map and a EUR map. RapidPlan takes the FDPs generated by Petrel Pad Placement and Well Design and calculates production based on local quality map properties.

Optimize unconventional FDP
Petrel Pad Placement and Well Design generates pads and wells. RapidPlan takes them as input and adds production and economics to optimize FDP under uncertainty. Production can be from either decline curves with scaling on well length, spacing and quality property, or reservoir simulation.

Link well-level production to field planning
Well-level production optimizations focus on petrophysical evaluation, stimulation design, and single well production forecasting. Petrel Pad Placement and Pad Well Design focuses on the field level and creates pads and wells, with an objective to maximize reservoir coverage under constaints. RapidPlan goes one step further to optimize in consideration of production and economics.
