Horizontal drilling is a common practice. A quick pre-drill analysis of lateral sections is of utmost importance to ensure the well plan is effective. A post-drill analysis provides information about the steering efficiency. Lateral Section Analysis enables to extract insights from assets to facilitate better well planning scenarios and ultimately optimal reservoir performance.
  • User defined line of section or existing cross-sections can be used to create gun barrel diagrams
  • Wells can be selected with user defined buffer distance along line of section
  • Interactively calculate shortest distance between lateral midpoints
  • Visualize surfaces and/or 3D geological models in gun barrel diagram
  • Lateral length calculation by zones intersected by the horizontal wells
  • Compute average reservoir properties for strips along lateral section
  • Compute average reservoir properties between SAGD pairs
  • Interactively define the strips along the lateral
  • Calculate initial and cumulative productions from observed data
  • Results can be saved as Point Well Data
  • Export tables to Excel.
Gun barrel diagram to evaluate impact on drainage areas of existing horizontal wells Lateral section view to understand steering efficiency of wells Analyze reservoir quality along the laterals by zones of intersection or frac height growth defined by the users Production summary tables defined for wells in gun barrel Enable surfaces and/or 3D geological model visualization on gun barrel diagram.
