Overview
The Fracture Detect plug-in identifies fractures and faults which other algorithms don’t. This works in noisy conditions, removing the noise or footprint to produce a fault and fracture attribute. The idea of this method is the decomposition of the seismic cube or reflection surface on the orthogonal components (principal components) based on its 3D or 2D autocorrelation function.
Specifications
  • Since the noise or footprints has no correlation with fractures or other latent features it stands out as separate orthogonal components.
  • The technology allow to do analyses of 3D seismic data along the layers what have much stable result to detect latent structure the layer.
  • Combination with Ant Tracking allows getting very stable and visible results.
  • Proposed method has the possibility to get separate results of different geological processes (factors) that are creating orthogonal (uncorrelated) features on the surface.
  • The technology can be applied to unconventional resources exploration for shale or carbonate plays.
Features
The technology can be applied to unconventional reservoirs for the detection of fracture corridors in shales or carbonates. It performs when the signal is poor and with strong noise conditions, it is ideal for deep water and sub salt exploration. Results orthogonal cubes can be used like input to Ant Tracking what is allow getting more stable results.
