EM forward modeling to investigate and evaluate reservoir pr
EM forward modeling is an excellent method for investigating whether an EM anomaly can be expected and identified based on your reservoir prospect. EM forward modeling is also an important tool to better understand your recorded EM data. The 3D forward modeling is powered by EMVmod of our technology partner TechnoImaging.
Build your resistivity model in Petrel
The resistivity model used in the forward modeling is best built using standard Petrel 3D grid building functionality. It is a great example of the integration benefits with doing EM forward modeling on the Petrel platform.
Run EM forward modeling in the Petrel Workflow
The Petrel Workflow is a powerful tool to script modeling runs. Bridge now includes support for this and you can include the EM forward modeling in these workflows, and allows for uncertainty studies where you get a distribution of your uncertainty related to your EM anomaly
EM Survey layout design
Bridge Electromagnetics includes functionality for creating a EM survey layout. This is used both in the forward modeling to optimize the layout, and for passing on to the survey acquisition crew for final adjustments.

Overview
The Bridge Electromagnetics (EM) plug-in consists of a series of modules for visualization, data QC, EM attribute analysis, EM forward modeling and EM inversion analysis. The 3D EM Forward Modeling module complements the 2.5D forward modeling with more details when doing a detailed prospect evaluation. The technology used in the 3D modeling algorithm is based on technology from the Blueback partner TechnoImaging.
Specifications
Features
3D EM forward modeling is traditionally a time consuming process, even when having access to large cluster computers. The 3D algorithm now available in Bridge provides a very fast solution through the use of the integral equation formulation of the simulation problem. By constraining the 3D volume to a limited region of interest we have been able to reduce the amount of calculations significantly. This makes the module perfect for reservoir characterization and sensitivity studies where many iterations of the 3D modeling must be done. By combining the 3D forward modeling capabilities with the already existing 1D and 2.5D modeling tools one can also incorporate bathymetry effects and background trends in modeling, which can be of crucial importance in sensitivity and feasibility studies.
