Fast and cost effective seismic inversion
The plugin provides a deterministic elastic seismic inversion for modelling velocities or impedances and density. We use angle stacked seismic data - such as near, mid and far - along with low frequency models to quickly perform the inversion. The results are similar to a constrained sparse spike inversion, but obtained 6x to 10x faster.
Stratigraphic grid
The user is able to select a horizon to run the inversion on a stratigraphic grid, built parallel to the horizon. This option is especially useful for running the inversion with horizontal correlation.
Random line trace gate
This option allows to select a Seismic Line 3D as a gate for the traces to be inverted. It was built for quick testing and performing quality control while varying the inversion parameters.
Integrated Quality Control
The user selects the wells for comparing the inversion with their respective well logs. The properties are defined using the global well logs, so the plugin can identify the logs in each well and plot them accordingly.
Quality control plot
Well logs of the selected wells and their inversion counterparts are plotted. The user can select to view each well separately, see the correlation coefficient and the crossplots for the logs and the inversion. The plots update in real time when a new inversion in run.
Show Me Video
Learn how to run an inversion
In this screencast, the user is invited to go through an inversion with all the optional parameters of BLI, using a random line, a horizon and QC well logs. The results are evaluated with the integrated QC interface and on the 3D window of Petrel.

Overview
Bayesian linearized angle stack inversion resulting in velocities or impedances and density. The method is direct, i.e. it does not use iterations, resulting in one of the fastest inversions available. The plugin supports random line as the trace gate and a horizon as stratigraphic grid. Integrated quality control is available for real time visualization of the results compared to well logs.
Specifications
Fast inversion method without iterations
Parallel computation using all available processing capacity
Integrated quality control interface
Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) support for 4x to 7x speedup
Support for using random lines as trace gate
Stratigraphic grid built based on a horizon
Horizontal correlation imposed at the result
Fast parametrization using the quality control interface
Features
Choose to invert your angle stacked seismic data within a stratigraphic grid combined with a random line, horizontal correlation and vertical correlation. Select the desired wells to compare in real time the results with the well logs. Use the computational power of the GPU present at your workstation, yielding 4 to 7 times faster results compared to the CPU.
